About
DVD Authoring
DVD authoring is the process of adding graphics and interactive
content to an audiovisual DVD. This might include an opening
logo, main menu page, index, or scene selection. It can
also incorporate audio options such as two-channel stereo
or 5-channel surround sound, multiple video formats, and
other features. DVD authoring is usually only used on
audiovisual DVDs and not on music disks.
Once we have edited your video, the next stage is to output
it to DVD. This is all done dynamically via our editing
programme Premier through to Encore, our DVD creation
programme. This is where user interfaces are created that
you are familiar with when you insert a commercial DVD
into your player.
Planning
is the key.
When
we edit your film in Premier, we can insert chapter points
when required throughout your production, this carries
over to the Encore DVD programme. We can then link these
points to your user menu. This can include a main menu
or additional sub menus such as scene selections and extra
features etc.
Some projects can be complicated such as education applications.
This isn't a problem in Encore. As we work, the programme
creates a flow chart so you can see exactly what is happening
(see middle panel below beside price guide) and when complete,
a pre flight check to make sure all links are in order.
Providing audio or subtitles in multiple languages can
expand the audience of your project. But audio and subtitle
tracks need not be limited to language translations. For
example, they can provide a directors comments,
teachers notes, or hints for students.
It needn't cost the earth
We have a range of ready made menu templates for you to
use at no extra cost or we can design them especially
for you for an agreed price. This can be still image backgrounds
or motion graphics to give your production a really professional
look. You can see some examples of our stock templates
on this page. Catagories include: corporate, entertainment,
wedding, technology, education, sports, travel and general.
Output to Blu-ray
We can now output your HD project to Blu-ray as well as
DVD.
